As earnings season rolls on, with the bulk of public companies set to report over the next two weeks, our earnings analysis series will also roll forward.

The last edition, found here, covered important parts of a company's earnings report such as their income and cash flow statements, as well as how debt is represented and should be analyzed within a report.

Those things are instrumental when it comes to valuation and how to conduct a thorough analysis on whether or not the company is priced properly at its current market valuation.

However, this is not enough to conduct a full analysis of earnings and is missing one main component of a report.

The balance sheet.
